Chamarajanagar: A cashier working at the State Bank of Mysore (SBM) in Kollegal branch of Chamarajanagar district was suspended after he exchanged banned notes worth Rs 1 crore for a commission on November 27.
According to sources, the accused cashier, Parashivamurthy had allegedly entered the bank on Sunday, November 27, between 6.30 pm and 7 pm to carry out the illegal act. However, the CCTV captured his stealthy actions. The cashier agreed to do the illegal exchange for a 30 percent commission.
Bank assistant general manager Balakrishna said that Parashivamurthy was suspended as cash and challans did not tally. He further said that the CCTV footage has been seized by the police and a probe has been ordered.
