Chamarajanagara: The Dalit organisations staged a protest against the suspension of five policemen attached to Yelandur Police Station on Wednesday November 30.
It is said that Ningaraju accused in a molestation case died after jumping out from a police jeep on Monday November 28. It is said that the police team was bringing him to the police station for enquiry. The accused jumped out of the running jeep to escape from the police. Seriously injured Ningaraju was admitted to Yelandur Taluk Hospital where he succumbed to injuries.
The Superintendent of Police suspended Yalandur CPI Sivamadaiah, PSI Mahadev Gowda, ASI Cheluvaraj, Head Constable Bhadramma, and Constable Somashekhar on charges of negligence on duty. This suspension order was issued after family members of the deceased filed complaint with the police.
The Dalit leaders said that the policemen have no role in the death of the accused who abruptly jumped out of the jeep. They urged to revoke the suspension of policemen or else they would initiate severe agitation.
