Chamarajanagara: Deer poaching, one caught, four abscond

Chamarajanagara: Forest officials have arrested a man in Maddur Range of Bandipur Tiger Reserve in the Taluk while he was hunting deer and carrying meat.

The accused has been identified as Shanmukha (35), a resident of Maddur Colony. The remaining four are absconding.

Deputy Range Forest Officer Ravikumar, Forest Guard Naveen and staff were on a forest patrol in the Jamun tree forest area of Maddur range in Bandipur when five persons were carrying deer meat. One person was arrested and has been remanded to judicial custody. Deer meat and other items used for poaching have been recovered from him.

The search operation has been initiated to trace the absconding accused.
