Chamarajanagara: Forest officers arrest 2 poachers

Chamarajanagara: The Forest Department officials arrested two persons on charges of hunting a male deer and converting it into meat on Sunday October 2.

The accused were identified as Thippabovi (55) of Hosalli Village and Siddaraju (45), a native of Begur Village. It is said that the accused killed a deer in wee hours of Sunday October 2 at Cauvery Wildlife Sub-division at Koudalli Forest Range. Acting on tip off Forest officers lead by Range Forest Officer (RFO) B. Nandish raided the house of accused and recovered meat, pelt, antlers as well as seized the weapons.

It is said that the accused used snare to catch the deer. The accused were booked under Wildlife Protection Act 1972. Officials registered FIR and produced accused before JMFC Court which remanded to Judicial Custody.
