Chamarajanagara: The Adi Jambava Community in Ambikapura Village under Ajjipura Gram Panchayat in Hanur Taluk faces a lot of hardships to cremate the dead bodies. The Adi Jambava and Scheduled Caste communities have no graveyard or the village has no public graveyard. The villagers complained that despite many requests to provide land for the graveyard the authorities have not taken any action to solve the problem. The Adi Jambava Community cremates the dead bodies in Ududore Rivulet in the Village. But owing to the rise of the water level in Rivulet they could not cremate bodies properly.

Community leaders said that 15 days back a woman died. She was cremated in the Rivulet but owing to the force of the water the body washed away. Today another person died and we cremated him in the rivulet. If water force increases this body too will wash away, they added.

When contacted Tahasildar Anandaiah said that the Revenue Department has been conducting a survey of the suitable lands in many villages of the Taluk which has been lacking graveyard. We will provide land for the graveyard soon as we have sent a report to Deputy Commissioner, he added.
