Chamarajanagara: The State Housing, infrastructure, and District In-Charge Minister V. Somanna slapped a woman at the title deed distribution programme for beneficiaries in rural areas on the evening of Saturday October 22 in Hangala of Gundlupet Taluk.

The Minister was confronted by a woman who was unhappy that she had not been given a land title as he was distributing land titles at a public event in Hangala village in the district.

The video shows the Minister, in a fit of rage, slapping a woman. Despite being assaulted, the woman is seen touching her hand on the Minister’s feet.

Somanna reportedly apologised later.

According to Section 94C of the Karnataka Land Revenue Act, around 175 persons were eligible for title deeds for the regularisation of land in rural areas. The woman claims that when she went to the Minister to explain why she had been refused a plot under the revenue department, Somanna hit her.

V. Somanna was supposed to arrive at 3.30 pm, however, he arrived two hours later.
