Chamarajanagara: A kirana shop owner resorted to suicide on Sunday July 10 after money lenders tortured him to pay excess interest at Gundlupete near here.
The deceased has been identified as Karthik (31), a resident of Gundlupete town. It is said that Karthik availed loan of Rs. 1 lakh from private money lenders. Even after paying interest regularly, the money lenders were visiting his shop demanding compound interest. Unable to pay interest he resorted to suicide on Sunday.
Based on death note, the Gundlupete Town Police registered a case against Pradeep, Subhash, Nandi as well as Ravi and arrested one. The others have absconded after the FIR.
