Chamarajnagar: In the wake of lack of development residents of Somanna Layout in ward number 15 of Chamarajanagar City Corporation (MCC) have decided to boycott the upcoming assembly elections.
Since the 3rd and 4th cross roads of ward 15 do not have basic amenities like roads, drains, UGD, and road lights even after 40 years of its layout, all amenities under the Constitution of India.
Residents of the locality approached the authorities but they did not respond and made excuses for not repairing 3rd and 4th cross roads. It is difficult to walk on a muddy road at night.
It is a place where snakes live and if someone’s health fluctuates no vehicles come to take them to the hospital. During the rainy season, as the canal is nearer, sewage water seeps into the houses. The residents said they would vote if this was rectified.
On the request we submitted to Chamarajanagar District In-charge Minister V. Somanna four months ago, he verbally ordered to the Deputy commissioner, the Deputy Commissioner has ordered the Tahsildar to construct the road, but so far he has failed to provide the road.
Though notices have been issued by the municipal commissioner for conducting the survey on the oral orders of the deputy commissioner, there has been no development of any kind, leading to public outrage.
