Chamarajanagara: Rift, and protests are on everyday in many parts of the State over Hijab. But a government school in this border District has uniform even for teachers, School Development and Management Committee na(SDMC) Members and cooks!
Hongalli Government Higher Primary School in Gundlupet Taluk stands as an unique example in the State as their uniform norm is on since last five years and all the staff are wearing it happily.
The uniform norm is the brain-child of Headmaster Mahadevaswamy which was agreed by all. The school has 105 students and the students’ uniform vhanges daily. Teachers and cooks have three uniforms in a week while SDMC members have two uniforms.
On Saturdays, the teachers, and students wear white uniforms with Gandhi caps.
The male teachers wear sky blue, ash colour and light brown shirts with black pants as uniform while women teachers wear light brown, sky blue and green colour sarees. Mid-day meal staff wear red, blue and cream colour sarees while SDMC members wear white dhoti and shirt and double-coloured shawls. SDMC members also wear their ID cards.
The SDMC members, teachers and children had joined hands to construct school buildings through mass shramadaan. They have also constructed school compound and toilet through mass work.
During Covid lockdown, Headmaster Mahadevaswamy watered plants in school premises by fetching water from far away. The work of Headmaster has drawn attention of erstwhile Education Minister S. Suresh Kumar, who admired and lauded his work.
