Chamarajanagar: After the Sulwadi tragedy, the state government is now being cautious about the food being served even in the Indira canteens.

In a bid to ensure quality of food and to avoid foul play, CCTVs will be installed in these canteens.

A guideline from department concerned states that any third person except the cook is restricted from entering the kitchen and that the food must be inspected thoroughly before serving.

The urban development board has also decided to have CCTV inside the kitchen and outside the canteen.

Addressing the media Deputy Commissioner B B Kaveri has said that around 500 people have food in the each Indira Canteen on daily basis and this would hike the chances of a number of casualties and deaths if the food quality is not checked and ensured.
