Chamarajanagar: A man who happily gifted his site for a link road some time ago suddenly woke up to block the same after a court granted stay based on his plea. The general public using the link road are now facing lot of inconvenience after it is blocked.
The link road to Galipura on National Highway 209 from Chamarajanagar to Sathyamangala was opened some time ago after the land owners concerned happily agreed to gift their properties for the proposed connectivity near Somwarapet. Accordingly, the City Development Authority and the City Council had taken measures to develop the link road. Two months ago, local MLA Puttaranga Shetty, Chamarajanagara Urban Development Authority (CHUDA) President Sayyed Rafi and City Council President Renuka Mallikarjuna had performed the rituals for the proposed project to take off.
For the proposed 60 feet wide link road the authorities had cleared all obstacles using earth movers on a 2-km long stretch. That time all the site owners and building owners had happily agreed to donate their property for the road project.
In the meantime, some site losers had filed a petition in the court seeking stay on the proposed link road project. The court upheld their plea and granted interim stay. The court also asked all the parties concerned to maintain status quo till further orders.
Soon after court granted stay, the site owners dug a trench and fenced their respective sites. With this move the link road project is stalled and people travelling between Somwarpet and Galipura are facing a lot of inconvenience.
Now, all road users have requested the authorities concerned to continue and complete the approved project without delay.
All links will remain cut off until the court opens its doors to issue fresh orders in this case!
