Proposed budget: Will CM Bommai give good news to Chamarajanagara

Chamarajanagara: This backward District that shares border with Tamil Nadu has lot of hopes on the upcoming State budget. During inauguration of Chamarajanagara Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) Hospital, the Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai had reiterated that all districts in the State are equal to him. Hence, this budget has evoked high hopes among people of the District as it is the last budget of the State by the present BJP Government.

Many projects announced by erstwhile JD (S), and Congress Government and Former Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa is still on paper. Former Chief Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy had announced the modernistion of Santhemarahalli market and factory, Training for youths, Reviving of Chamarajanagara Silk factory, Developing Gaganachukki and Bharachukki, all of which were implemented, partially. The BSY Government announced setting up of elephant camp in Budhipadaga in Chamarajanagara Taluk, developing eco-tourism in Gopinatham, and developing turmeric market in collaboration with private participation during last year budget are yet to see the light of the day.

District In-Charge Minister V. Somanna replaced erstwhile Minister S. Suresh Kumar, and the hopes are high as the Government may announce new projects for the District.

The District has potential for tourism activities. The people are urging the Government to announce special package in budget for overall development of the District. People say that special package would ensure employment opportunities. The District has a very good quality black stones deposition, and the Government may consider establishing granite park. They also aver that the Government could announce second stage works of Cauvery Drinking Water Project, drinking water projects to Hanur and Kollegala Taluks which are facing shortage in rural areas, setting up of silk park to boost Sericulture in the District among others. The Government could also take steps to attract industrialists to establish industries in Badanaguppe – Kellamballi industrial extension.

The other projects such as construction of truck terminal, setting up of cold storage to stock agricultural produces of farmers, starting of law college which was sanctioned by the Government already, construction of Taluk Bhavan in newly formed Hanur Taluk, construction of new court building, upgradation of Taluk Hospitals and construction of full-fledged hospital in Male Mahadeshwara Hills are major expectations of the people of District.
