Mysuru: Few days after a major child trafficking racket was busted here, explosive details are emerging out and the police remain in quandary over finding the rescued children’s parents or offering parental care to the infants.
Thus far, the police have rescued 13 children who had been sold for amounts ranging from Rs 45000 to lakhs of rupees by the accused. One child was sold to the US and most innocent victims were girls as they had high demand among clients.
The city police have rescued one child from Palakkad, Kerala, two from Sagar in Shivamogga district and have handed over a total of 13 victims to Child Care Centre “Balamandira” in Mysuru. The accused had confessed to have sold five children to Kerala and one to their client from US.
Real Challenge
The police have intensified investigations but are finding it difficult to trace young single mothers who became victims in few cases. Even the “tough” Superitendant of police Ravi Chennanavar is moved by the cries of little children above 2 years who are longing to get back to their parents. He is making serious efforts to unite the little children with their loved ones.
