In a contentious turn of events in Mysuru, the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) has called for the arrest of Snehamayee Krishna, an RTI activist who recently filed a complaint against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. KPCC spokesperson M. Lakshman has accused Krishna of employing blackmail tactics and exerting undue pressure on government officials by repeatedly visiting the Mysuru Lokayukta SP’s office.
During a press conference on Tuesday, Lakshman expressed his concerns about the integrity of the investigative process. “It’s normal procedure to provide information when summoned by officials. But can a complainant come and submit documents whenever they want? Should the investigation be conducted at their whim? Are the officials somehow blackmailed?” he questioned, highlighting what he perceives as a breach of protocol in the ongoing investigation.
Lakshman further alleged that Krishna is not acting independently, suggesting that she is merely a front for larger political machinations involving the BJP and JD(S). He asserted, “In this case, Snehamayee Krishna is merely an actor; the real orchestrators are in the BJP and JD(S).” Lakshman claimed that nearly 50% of the documents Krishna possesses are fabricated, raising questions about the legitimacy of her claims.
The KPCC plans to take further action, with Lakshman announcing that a formal complaint will be filed with the Lokayukta SP on Wednesday, October 16. He emphasized the need for action against Krishna, asserting that the allegations against the Chief Minister have deeper political implications.
Lakshman’s comments suggest that the issue extends beyond the individual complaints lodged by Krishna. He hinted at a broader agenda, implying that the complaints are politically motivated efforts to undermine the Chief Minister’s administration. By questioning the authenticity of the documents and the methods employed by Krishna, Lakshman is framing the situation as part of a larger political strategy rather than a legitimate grievance.
The escalating tensions surrounding this case highlight the fraught political atmosphere in Karnataka, where allegations of corruption and misconduct frequently surface. The response from the Congress party underscores their commitment to defending their leadership against what they perceive as orchestrated attacks.
As the situation develops, all eyes will be on the Lokayukta’s response to the forthcoming complaint and how it addresses the contentious claims made by both sides. The fallout from this controversy could have significant implications for the political landscape in Karnataka as party loyalties and allegations continue to intersect.
