Mysuru: Krishnaraja Assembly Constituency legislator M K Somashekar has demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged irregularities in the revised electoral rolls where the opposition BJP has accused him of deleting the names of eligible voters.

Speaking to media at the press club over allegations made by former minister and BJP leader Ramdass, Congress MLA M K Somashekar said,“Fearing loss of assembly seat to contest in the forthcoming elections, Ramdass is busy cooking up new stories to stay in the limelight.”

Ramdass colluded with election officials named Ranganath and Ravi and included names of 20,000 voters sitting at his residence, MLA Somashekar alleged countering Ramdass’s allegations.

Action has been initiated to delete the names of fake voters from electoral rolls based on his letter to the deputy commissioner, Somashekar clarified.

In Srirampuram area, 18 voter names have been included in house No 5 where only 2 people stay and in residence no 6, around 21 voters have been included. There are instances of giving voters IDs to people linking their names to vacant sites, Somasheakra alleged and demanded a thorough CBI probe into the irregularities committed and stringent action against the guilty.

There is an increase of 19,377 voters in 2017 when compared to previous assembly elections in 2013 and the BJP leader is stage managing the show only to remain in the limelight, alleged M K Somashekar.

“Official named Aslam is unknown to me”, said MLA Somashekar and added that BJP was trying to communalise the electoral rolls issue.

In K R constituency alone there are 20,000 voter additions and the same might have occurred in Chamundeshwari assembly segment, MLA Somashekar feared.

The guilty deserve jail term after CBI probe, concluded MLA Somashekar.
