Mysuru: Prior to the inauguration of the Dasara Exhibition on Wednesday, October 10, the Karnataka Exhibition Authorities had sent three to four reminders requesting all government departments to prepare their stalls. Despite the reminders including a letter from the Chief Secretary of the state asking all departments to keep their stalls ready, apart from a few stalls including that of tourism, Kannada and culture, and the information department, most of the stalls are yet to be finished, even though the inauguration of the expo is already over.
When the tourists visit the annual Dasara Exhibition, they will be greeted by empty stands as most of the stalls, including some government stalls, are still being set up and it will take another five to ten days for them to be completed and before being opened up for the public.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Karnataka Exhibition Authority, NM Shashikumar said, “The Chief Secretary, since July, had been communicating to all the departments to set up their respective stalls before the start of the Dasara Exhibition. Three to four correspondences were also made in this regard, and I personally called all the department heads and requested them to prepare their stalls well before the inauguration, but, among the 43 government stalls, nearly 30 of them are still in the finishing stage and the rest will take a few more days to be completed. It will take another five to ten days for all the stalls to start functioning. Apart from the government stalls, there are 136 commercial stalls. A report will be sent to the Chief Secretary about those government stalls that are not ready.”
Varsity stalls to be set up on or after October 20: According to instructions from District Minister GT Devegowda the exhibition authorities have reserved places for universities to set up their stalls. If everything goes according to plan, they will be set up on or after October 20. This is the first time that one can come across all universities of the state at one place.
