Mysuru: An employee of Falcon Tyre attempted suicide at factory premise condemning the factory management for non payment of salary over the last two years, on Thursday. The condition of the employee named Kiran Raj Urs, 35 is said to be critical.
It is said that the salary of Urs was not credited over the last two years, due to which he and his family were thrown into dire straits. However, Urs managed to make both ends meet using his PF and other savings. But, when the savings ran dry, Urs found it difficult to meet the requirements of the family and hence on Thursday, he consumed poison in the factory premises.
He was rushed to Aaditya Adhikari Hospital in Gokulam where he is undergoing treatment. Dr N Chandra Shekar, Director of Aadithya Adhikari Hospital who is treating Kiran said that 48 hours would be considered critical.
It can be brought to light that members of Falcon Tyres Employees Union staged 141 days indefinite protest near Deputy Commissioner’s office. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, the then Revenue Minister Srinivas Prasad, Industry Minister RV Deshpande and other elected representatives interfered and managed to convince factory chairman Pawan Kumar Ruia who assured to resume operations but Pawan couldn’t keep up his words as the factory is out of gear. There are over 2500 employees working in the company.
