FB post helps techie rescue his pregnant wife from Chennai

Mysuru: A environmental engineer from Mysuru working in Bengaluru could rescue his pregnant wife stranded in Chennai, thanks to his FB post.

The couple reached the city safely on Saturday.

Vinay Kumar’s wife Priya is a mechanical engineer in Chennai. Following the deluge, Kumar had lost contact with his wife for over five days and since buses and trains remained cancelled he could not reach Chennai.

In a state of despair, Vinay Kumar posted a FB post seeking help to rescue Priya, who is pregnant.

Reading the post, one Pradeep who was planning to travel to Chennai by car contacted Vinay.

Vinay and Pradeep could reach only till Chennai Outer Ring Road, nearly 16 km away from Valachery, where Priya was residing.
From Outer Ring Road, Vinay walked 16 kms to reach Priya’s accommodation, but to his dismay Priya was not found there.

He later learnt that Priya was shifted to a local shopping mall by the rescue team. Finally, he?could meet Priya at Phoenix Shopping Mall.

Vinay recalls that after the FB post he had received calls from various parts of the world including US and Malaysia, suggesting him ideas to rescue his wife.

“Many callers asked about Priya’s health condition and doctors asked to contact them, in case of medical emergency,” said Vinay.
