Mysuru: An FIR has been filed against Professor KS Bhagwan in Mysuru after a complaint was submitted by Gangadhar, the president of the State Okkaliga Sangha, regarding derogatory comments made by Professor Bhagwan about the Okkaliga community. The FIR has been registered under IPC sections 153 and 153A at the Devaraja police station.

Professor Bhagwan’s controversial statements, which included derogatory remarks about the Okkaliga community and Lord Sri Rama, have sparked outrage and resulted in a legal case. The FIR was filed under Section 153 of the IPC, which pertains to speech that incites violence, and Section 153A, which deals with creating disturbances between different communities and promoting enmity.

Following this development, members of the State Okkaligara Sangha have called for the immediate arrest of Professor Bhagwan. They have welcomed the filing of the FIR and have urged authorities to take swift legal action against the professor. Additionally, they have insisted that Bhagwan should not be invited to any future events.

Professor Bhagwan’s controversial statements have disrupted public events, including the Dussehra poetry conference. He has made critical remarks about both the Okkaliga and Brahmin communities and certain Hindu religious practices, leading to strong reactions from various quarters. The legal proceedings initiated through the FIR are expected to further address this contentious issue.
