Girls outperform boys during seventh Graduation Day celebration of SJCE

Mysuru: During the seventh graduation day celebration of Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering at its premise here on Saturday, yet again the girls outperformed the boys by securing more number of ranks and endowment awards.

Proactive youth is India’s new economic power: Padmabhushan Kalyani-1Among 28 ranks including 14 in Master of Technology (MTech) and 12 in Bachelor of Engineering (BE), girls managed to snatch 17 ranks against boys’ 13 ranks. Especially in MTech, out of 14 ranks, girls took the lion’s share of 10 ranks while the boys had to be content with four. However, in BE, the share is equa-six ranks each.

S Bindushree not only stood first in Civil Engineering but also pocketed two endowment awards: Ratnamma Ananthachar Memorial and Srichand Memoral Gold Medal Award for securing highest CGPA in Civil Engineering.

Padmabhushan Babasaheb Neelkanth Kalyani, Chairman and Managing Director, Bharat Forge Limited, Pune who also distributed the provisional certificates to students said, “During our days, among 450 students, just 15 used to be girls and when it came to the medals tally there were not even one but now it’s really surprising. I had also chaired one of IIMs in India for almost ten years but I had never seen as many successful women candidates as I am seeing in this graduation ceremony. So my friends-male gender, you need to be more hardworking and a little more alert about the competition you are facing”.
