Chamarajanagar: Hanur MLA Manjunath has stepped forward to console the relatives of three men killed in a forest encounter in the Shagya forest range of Chamarajanagar district, assuring them that he would support their demand for justice.

According to a social media post, the MLA met the bereaved families amid growing concerns over the circumstances surrounding the deaths and the demands raised by the relatives.

MLA assures support to families

During the interaction, Manjunath reportedly assured the families that he would work to ensure justice for the deceased. The families have been seeking answers over the forest encounter and have raised demands before the authorities.

The MLA’s intervention comes as the relatives continue to seek accountability and clarity over the incident involving the Forest Department.

Compensation demand raised

The social media post also refers to a Rs 15 lakh demand made in connection with the case. However, the available post does not clearly establish whether the amount is being sought as compensation for each deceased person or represents a collective demand.

The circumstances of the encounter and the exact status of the compensation demand could not be independently established from the information available.

The families had earlier opposed post-mortem procedures at the MMC&RI mortuary in Mysuru, demanding the presence of senior political leaders and Forest Department officials before proceeding with the examinations.

The case has consequently drawn attention to the need for transparency and a clear explanation of the events that led to the deaths.
