Mysuru: A police head constable was arrested for betraying a woman on a fake promise of marriage in Nanjanagudu Taluk on February 25.
Gowramma, the woman who had visited the constable’s house to seek justice, was allegedly beaten and thrown into a farm by C. Krishna, the, head constable and his son Kiran. She was immediately shifted to KR Hospital in Mysuru by the villagers.
It is said that Gauramma, wife of Nanjaiah had visited Bannur Police Station asking for aid. Krishna, who was on duty, befriended her on the pretext of helping her. Days later, believing his words and promises, she got a divorce from her husband. Krishna had also borrowed Rs. 5 lakh in her name from a society and another Rs. 3 lakh separately. When the truth came to light that he had got married to another woman, Gowramma objected to this, but was physically abused by him.
An FIR has been lodged against Krishna at the Hullahalli Police Station, and police are investigating.
