Mysuru: Heritage city Mysuru is getting decked up for 10-day winter festival titled “Magi Utsava’, starting December 23. The district administration is making elaborate arrangements to ensure festival’s success, which includes flower show and a series of cultural programmes spread over a period of 10 days.
Releasing the poster of the 10–day festival scheduled to take place within the palace premises between December 23 and January1, Deputy Commissioner D .Randeep stated that the winter festival would be held in line with the world renowned Dasara festival.
The Palace Administration Board is organising a flower show during the festival period between 10 AM and 9 PM where hundreds of sculptures made of clay will be bedecked with wide variety of flowers.
Around 10,000 flower pots will be employed and replicas of important buildings, towers of historical importance will be created for the benefit of visitors.
Animal sculptures made of clay will be an added attraction for school going children where models of King Cobra, Tortoise, Star fish , Sukhoi aircraft and fictional, mythological characters of Chota Bheem and Krishna will be showcased using flowers, DC Randeep explained. Around 3.5 lakh flowers will be on display, he added,
Government undertakings and private companies will play an active role with their specific contributions to ensure festival’s success, DC stated.
Wide range of cultural programmes have been planned during the festival period and the renowned Amba Vilas Palace will stay illuminated between 7 PM and 9 PM on all days of the festival, DC said.
Children’s fest, photo exhibition, cycle rides and an exclusive food and cake exhibition will also a be parts of the festival, D C Randeep explained, giving out minute details on each of the planned events.
