Mysuru: A hoax bomb threat call made to Mysuru DC office sparked panic for a while among the staff and the officials.
On Monday, the DC office control room received a call from an unidentified person through a coin booth at Nanjumalige. The caller reportedly said that he heard few people speaking about a person named Basir who was making a bomb to blow up the DC office. “So I have called you to inform about it”, he said.
After the call, the staff and officials left the office and immediately informed the city police commissioner. The Police department led by DCP on getting information about the bomb call rushed to the DC office along with the Bomb disposal squad, finger print experts and dog squad and carried on 2-hour-long search operation.
DC C Shikha speaking to reporters said that the incident was immediately informed to the commissioner and after the search operation it was confirmed that it was a hoax call. “However, we will provide additional security to the staff”, she added.
Ahead of Republic Day, a high alert has been declared across nation. In Mysuru too, security has been beefed up to avoid untoward incidents especially after this incident.
