Mysuru: Mysuru Kannada Forum (MKF) members on Tuesday March 8 staged protest on foothill of Chamundi Hills against installing ropeway to hills.
MKF President S. Balakrishna said that the ropeway project would destroy environment of the hill. Just to facilitate tourism hundreds of trees would be cut, this is not fair, he added.
He said that Chamundi Hills is not only holy pilgrimage place. The hill is shelter for biodiversity for thousands of animals and birds, he said. He added its our responsibility to conserve the hills. Further, he urged the State Government should include Chamundi Hills into Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) limits. He also averred that the State Government should plant more trees in hills to promote environment conservation instead destroying it.
