Mysuru-based Kannada Kriya Samithi (KKS), along with Shastriya Basha Kannada Horata Samithi and other organizations, has welcomed the Centre’s decision to retain the Centre of Excellence for Studies in Classical Kannada (CESCK) as an autonomous body. However, they strongly oppose plans to shift it from Mysuru to Bengaluru.

At a recent meeting held at Nrupathunga Kannada Shaale, Sa Ra Sudharshan of KKS announced that three key resolutions were passed. First, while they support CESCK’s separation from Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), they demand an immediate official order confirming its autonomy. They insist CESCK remains in Mysuru, where it was established nearly two decades ago, with land already allocated by the University of Mysore for its building.

The second resolution focuses on urging Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Mysuru District In-Charge Minister H C Mahadevaiah to intervene. The third resolution involves meeting MPs Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar (Mysore-Kodagu) and Sunil Bose (Chamarajanagar) to push the demand at the national level.

A follow-up meeting is scheduled on February 8 at 4 PM at Nrupathunga Kannada School to plan further action. Supporters of the cause are invited to participate.

Notable attendees included Kalegowda Nagawara, Horeyala Doreswamy, B A Shivashankar, Suresh Babu, Na Diwakara, and others.
