Even if Google Maps has revolutionized our commute, errors still happen from time to time. Locals in the Kodagu area of Karnataka have erected a temporary sign alerting tourists of Google’s navigation error.
“Google is wrong. This road does not go to Club Mahindra,” proclaims the sign. Evidently, local villagers got tired of lost travellers asking for directions after being misled by Google Maps and decided to put up the warning.

A picture of the signboard was recently shared on X, where it has attracted many amused comments.
In the comments section, at least some people blamed Google for not allowing users to correct locations.
“Google local guides like me (volunteers) could have corrected the wrong listing. But google has an admin team that love rejecting edits randomly. So let someone from Google fly down and fix it. Till then let people curse them like this,” wrote X user Ashwin Siddaramaiah.
Others related their personal Google Maps-related mishaps. “Once we get up into the highlands, Google is never right. Once I recall, we used the sullia to get from Kukke Subramanya to Madikeri. One X user recalled, “Google forced us to take a random right after which we traveled for more than 80 km before realizing we are on the wrong route and got correct route by local person.”
A man in Tamil Nadu became caught in the midst of a set of steps in January of this year as a result of believing what Google Maps said.
