Kodagu: Madikeri MLA M. P. Appachu Ranjan on Saturday July 2 offered Bagina to Harangi Reservoir as it has filled up to maximum level.
The district has been receiving heavy rainfall since last two days which has resulted in rise of inflow to reservoir. The reservoir has capacity to store 8.5 TMCs of water which is filled to maximum level. The reservoir’s maximum level is 2859 feet of which water is stored up to 2856.54 feet.
Cauvery Neeravari Nigam Limited (CNNL) Executive Engineer I. K. Putta Swamy said that 10000 cusecs of water is being released into river and inflow is recorded as 4653 cusecs.
He said people near the riverbed should move to a safe place as water has been released from the reservoir into the river. Fishermen and farmers should be careful not to let their cattle into the river, he added.
