Kodagu: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai visited Mallikarjuna Colony here on Tuesday July 12, and distributed compensation cheque to house owner. A house belonging to Gopal has collapsed due to heavy rain two days ago. Hearing the sound of wall collapse, the six people in the house came out and the family escaped unhurt.
CM visited their house and distributed a compensation cheque worth Rs. 1 lakh, 5 thousand to Gopal.
Kodagu District In-Charge Minister B. C. Nagesh visited Harangi Dam and inspected the conditions there. Information was obtained from the officials about water storage and water release of Harangi Dam and instructed not to store water. He visited and inspected the rain damaged area of 7th Hoskote Village of Kushalanagara Taluk of the District. He distributed compensation cheques on the spot to the house owners whose houses collapsed due to rain.
Speaking to mediapersons he said that he has written a letter to the National Institute of Geography for earthquake study. I have appealed for a detailed study of the earthquake. He said that further action will be taken based on the study report of scientists. He said, “Use of many technologies are being considered to prevent landslides. Amrit University will provide advice regarding prevention of landslide. A task force has been set up in rural areas.”
He said that a special control room has been established for power management. Additional money will be given to the Deputy Commissioner if required. He instructed officers to provide necessary facilities to the victims in the care centres. We will also distribute ration to the victims in their relative’s house. He directed the officials to give ration even when they return home the care centres.
