Kodagu: Elderly cast votes at 542 polling booths in District

Madikeri: The process of voting for those above 80 years of age and differently-abled persons registered under Form 12D began at home on Saturday April 29 in the District.

The postal voting process was initiated under the leadership of sector officers in 542 polling booths of Kodagu District.

Four senior citizens in Hudugur polling station limits of booth number-106 in Madikeri Assembly Constituency, four senior citizens and one differently-abled person casted their votes. A total of 10 people, including senior citizens at Chikkathur in booth number 152 and one senior citizen in Sundara Nagar of booth number 154, exercised their franchise on the first day, said Harangi Dam Executive Engineer and Sector Officers Puttaswamy.

People above 80 years of age and differently-abled persons who have already registered their names in various polling booths in Madikeri city have exercised their franchise. The process will continue till May 6. A total of 2,474 people in the District have come forward to cast their votes through postal ballots.
