Kodagu: The Forest Department of Kodagu Circle has increased the entry fee of Cauvery Nisargadhama, Dubare and Harangi Elephant camps in Kushalnagar Taluk of the District.

The entry fee to the Cauvery Nisargadhama has been increased from the present Rs. 30 to Rs. 60. The entry fee for Dubare has been increased from Rs. 50 to Rs. 100 and for Harangi Elephant camp from Rs. 30 to Rs. 50. These charges will be applicable from January, 2023.

The old suspension bridge at Cauvery Nisargadhama is already in a dilapidated condition and hence the movement on this bridge has been stopped. An estimated Rs. 45 lyakh is required for the repair of the bridge. As the compensation amount for man-animal conflict, including repair of the bridge, has also gone up, the Forest Department has decided to raise the entry fee for its maintenance.

The entry fee for tourist spots in Kodagu is slightly lower as compared to other States. Thus, the fee has been increased. The proceeds will be used for Kodagu man-animal conflict relief funds.
