Kodagu: A local court on Sunday October 16 granted bail to two suspects arrested in connection with a phone conversation about an alleged conspiracy to throw petrol bombs in various locations, including Madikeri.

A case was filed in the City Police Station against JD (S) member Mustafa and Bettageri businessman Abdullah based on Sheshappa Rai’s complaint. On Saturday, the arrested suspects appeared in court. On Sunday, two of the accused were granted bail.

The audio of the purported Malayalam conversation had gone viral on social media, prompting sharp criticism. According to District Superintendent of Police M. A. Aiyappa, an investigation is underway to determine the source of the viral audio.
MLA K. G. Bopaiah mentioned that the State Government and the Home Department are taking this case seriously and that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been notified.
Speaking to mediapersons he said that he demanded a high-level investigation into the suspected ‘seditious forces’ active in Kodagu and linked to Kerala-based elements.
