Uniform compulsory in all colleges: Min BC Nagesh

Kodagu: State Education Minister B. C. Nagesh has said that uniform is compulsory in all government schools, colleges in the State and there will be no exemption to it for anybody.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Wednesday January 26 he said that the Government did not ban burkha, but every student should wear a uniform. The college development committees would decide the uniforms.

He said that only 6 among 60 Muslim girl students in Udupi Government PU College have been protesting to allow wearing of hijab in the classroom. He said this issue was provoked by a few organisations in the coastal region and they would not succeed.

The Minister also hinted that all the schools will reopen in Bengaluru from the first week of February and a decision would be taken at a meeting to be held on January 29. He said Covid infection cases are decreasing in the capital City.

He said 77 schools in the State have already started and schools are not closed in 5 districts. He said 246 schools in 19 districts were closed for 3 to 7 days. The schools are completely closed in Bengaluru, Hubballi – Dharawad, Mandya and Mysuru. He said that SSLC examinations will be held as per timetable and Covid positive students would be allowed to write exams in separate rooms.
