Madikeri: With just one day left for the Lok Sabha polls in the district, the Kodagu Police Department held a route march to instill confidence among the electorate to vote freely without fear.
Under the guidance of District Superintendent of Police Dr. Suman D Pennekar and led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Sundar Raj, hundreds of armed police personnel and officials marched on the streets of the city, conveying a message that the police department is committed to maintain peace, law and order during the election, and that everybody should vote without fear and hesitation. The police department also requested the electorate to cast its votes without coming under the influence of money and freebies and also not to give heed to any kind of threat.
The route march commenced at the District Police Ground and passed through Indira Gandhi Circle, Mahadevpet, Banni Mantapa, Market, Ganapathi street, Old Private Bus Stand, Thimmaiah Circle and other main roads of the city.
Before starting the route march, SP Dr. Suman D Pennekar directed the police personnel and officials regarding their duties on the election day.
Circle Inspectors of various police stations of the district, deputy inspectors, Kodagu Commandos, District Armed Reserve unit, traffic police, Home Guards and women police personnel participated in the route march.
