Mandya: Amputated leg of man allegedly given to wife for burial

Mandya: In an inhuman incident, the authorities of Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) allegedly gave the amputated leg of the patient to his wife for burial.

It is alleged that the doctors amputated gangrene-affected leg of Prakash, a patient from Keelara Village. But the hospital authorities gave the leg to Bhagyamma, wife of Prakash to bury the same. The incident attracted widespread criticism by various pro-people organisations and people.

Bhagyamma who received the leg expressed her griefon seeing her husband’s leg. She alleged that the hospital staff told her that she has to pay thousands of rupees if they have dispose the leg off and asked her to bury the leg herself.

People have urged authorities to take action against irresponsible
hospital staff.
