Mandya: The office-bearers of Sangolli Rayanna Auto Drivers and Owners’ Association staged a protest by blocking the highway and protested against private construction building for not taking action even though waste water was flowing on the road.
Activists of the organisation, who had gathered near the KSRTC Bus Stand in the Town, shouted slogans against the private construction company and parked autorickshaw across the highway. Though waste water and other polluted water from the underground drainage connection near the KSRTC Bus Stand have been flowing on the road for the past six months, the highway authorities have not taken any action. He alleged that there was unhygienic conditions around the bus stand and there was a fear of communicable diseases.
Commuters arriving at the bus stand and pedestrians travelling along the way complained that the waste water was flowing on the road itself for a kilometre causing waste water to sprinkle on the public.
