Mandya: The Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (Karave) activists gathered at Silver Jubilee Park and expressed outrage by burning effigies of Maharashtra government ministers, Shiv Sena and MES leaders.
They stated, “Mahajan’s one-member commission, formed by the Central Government under pressure from Maharashtra, ruled that Belgavi should join Karnataka. But the Maharashtra Government and politicians there are not agreeing to this and are trying to create an atmosphere of conflict between the Kannadigas and the Marathas in Belagavi. The Belagavi dispute is currently being heard in the Supreme Court. In such a situation, instead of respecting the law of the land, they are trying to create conflict. Karave is constantly fighting against this. In the meantime, they expressed outrage that Kannadigas are being brutalised in Maharashtra for no reason.
They also asserted that in this context, strict legal action should be taken against the culprits. The Government of Maharashtra should take strict action to protect the Kannadigas there. The Central Government should intervene and protect the Kannadigas. They demanded immediate ban on the Maharashtra Unification Committee which is disturbing the peace in Belagavi.
