Mandya: District Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF) Ruthren P. visited the world famous Krishna Raj Sagar (KRS) Brindavan on Thursday November 24 to capture a leopard which was frequently spotted and causing panic.
KRS is a forest area under its jurisdiction and is vast. So all kinds of measures are being taken to catch the leopard. He said that the steps are being taken to identify the movement of leopards.
“There is no possibility of a leopard attacking during the day. But there is a possibility of an attack at night. However, there is a complete shutdown at night and hence it will be captured soon,” he said.
The Cauvery Irrigation Corporation has suffered a loss of over Rs. 50 lakh due to the Brindavan restrictions imposed due to the leopard menace. Locals and tourists have been protesting against the fact that the leopard has not been captured for the last 25 days.
