Mandya: Communal harmony marked the Ganesha festival at Beedi Colony in the town on Wednesday August 31. Hindus and Muslims took part in the celebration with Superintendent of Police N. Yathish encouraging them.

The colony is thickly populated with Muslims and by joining Hindus, the participants irrespective of age gave a strong message of communal harmony.

The highlight of the event was the pandal with a board written in Kannada – Hindu Muslim Bandhavyada Sanketa (The mark of the relationship between Hindu and Muslims), with the symbols of all the three prominent religions- Hindu, Islam and Christianity on either side. SP Yathish also participated in the Ganesh festival at the colony and appreciated the gesture to promote harmony among the communities.
