Mandya: Thief threatens shop owner’s son and robs gold

Mandya: In a shocking incident, 307 grams of gold ornaments and Rs. 2 Lakh have been seized from the accused, who is facing a murder case.

The accused had threatened the son of a shop owner and robbed his gold ornaments. But Maddur Police has seized the cash.

Charan, a resident of Mudigere Village in Channapatna Taluk of Ramanagara District, has been booked for murder at Channapatna Gramanthara Police Station and is an undertrial prisoner in Ramanagara District Jail.

The theft came to light when Charan was taken into custody by Maddur police in connection with the theft case and when he was interrogated.

Khataram, a resident of Teacher Colony Layout in the town, was running a shop in Kestur Village of the District and was pledging gold ornaments from customers. It is said that the jewellery was kept at home for safety reasons.

The accused, Charan Girvi, had threatened Suraj Choudhary, son of the shop owner, to bring the jewellery kept in the house, or he would attack his father and others. Frightened by this, Sooraj brought 87 packet of gold from the customer.

The shop owner had registered a case at Maddur Police Station in this regard.
