Only locals will be allowed to participate in the Vairamudi Brahmotsavam: DC

Mandya: District Commissioner S Ashwati said that only the locals were allowed to participate in the Vairamudi Brahmotsavam fair and it was compulsory for them to bring in a government-issued identity card.

The Vairamudi Brahmotsavam is being held from March 19 to 30. 

Speaking at a press conference held at the District Secretariat on Monday March 22, said that the decision was taken to curb the increasing spread of covid-19.

She said, “the state government has ordered rules to control the spread of the covid-19 virus and there will be two side check posts for devotees and thermal scanning.” Locals and devotees must wear masks, maintain social distancing or else they will be penalized, she said.

She explained that only 50 to 100 people were allowed to perform the darshan at the temple premises at a time. There is no communal dining, prasadha distribution will be held in the inner and outer courtyards of the temple, she added. She said that staying in surrounding hotels is prohibited.

The program will be broadcast live on YouTube, Facebook and the District Commissioner’s website for the devotes to watch the worship service at the Temple on May 24 from 7 am to midnight. She said that passes were made available to staff, police personnel, aspirants, media, priests and volunteers, excluding the public.
