Mandya: A poly house built close to the market place at a cost of Rs 60 Lakh to cultivate Carnetia flowers was completely destroyed in the thunderstorms on May 10 resulting in huge losses.
The floriculture venture set up by two brothers named M G Nandish Kumar and M G Umesh Kumar in a two-acre plot was swept away by gusty winds accompanied by rains, thereby destroying the entire Carnetia crop due for harvest.
The brothers dependent on horticulture are worried about clearing the loans taken from financial institutions following the destruction. Locals have demanded the district administration to come to their aid and compensate for the losses.
