Training program was organized for women as part of Mahilotsava

Mandya: With the Mahatma Gandhi National Employment Guarantee Scheme, rural women should rise, participate and become economically strong, said RP Mahesh, executive officer of Taluk Panchayat.

Under this Scheme, a training program was organized as part of Mahilolsava for women Kayakabandhu and self- help members. He said every family should get a job card. “One job card is given for 100 days of work” He said the NAREGA project aims to create jobs for people in rural areas to find work in their land to avoid migration.

Devi, state president of the Janavadi women organisation, said women should be involved in the NAREGA project and should take responsibility for the protection of community property. She explained the various opportunities that are available. “Individuals can take up works such as trenching, agroforestry, farm pits, horticulture, silk farming, beekeeping, poultry, pig shed works and community works such as pond construction, check dam, road and sewer construction and employmen. She expressed that there is equal pay at Rs 275.

On the occasion, the annual calendar of the NAREGA project was released and distributed to women kayak relatives and members of the self-help group.
