Mysuru: It was a rare wedding between two amateur musicians, who fell in love when they kept their Facebook chat lines open to bridge the gap and entered wedlock.
Mysurean groom Krishna Iyengar settled in Petersberg of United states tied the nuptial knot to Melissa, a native of Mexico in a traditional wedding ceremony on November 9.
Krishna, a chemical engineer by profession is the son of Srinivas Iyengar, a retired civil engineer whereas Melissa has completed her post graduation in Law.
They are now members of “Above and Beyond” music group based in United Kingdom. They came in touch when they joined the ‘Therapy 100 New York Group’ on Facebook.
The initial chats related to “love for music” translated to “love for each other” and culminated in their wedding though their first face-to-face encounter was in Los Angeles during February, 2015 in a music programme.
Wedding as per Brahmin tradition:
After elders’ consent, the couple tied the knot in the presence of family members and friends at a Kalyana Mantapa (wedding hall). One more grand celebration in US as per Catholic tradition has been planned to fulfill Melissa’s desire.
Commenting on the wedding, an elated Varalakshmi, mother of groom Krsihna said more than religion and tradition, couple’s happiness was paramount.
Both the parents gave consent with an open mind and were extremely happy with the outcome, especially with well-wishers showering blessings on newly-wed couple.
