Mysore :Jayanthi Ballal, the undisputed numero uno fashion designer of Mysore and the proprietor of Needle Works, a design boutique she started in 2002, will, in association with C. Krishniah Chetty & Sons, a 140 year old legend in the world of jewelry, bring to Mysore and Mysoreans, the Mysore Fashion Week, Season 01, for the first time on the 5th 6th and 7th of September.
Jayanthi and Needle Works started small, and have moved on to greater things while retaining their roots in the cultural and heritage hub, Mysore. Her first collection excited her clients and the media alike which brought her instant recognition. Femina, the popular national women’s magazine featured Jayanthi recognizing her ability to bring the best out of fabric. She has showcased her designs through several ramp walks and organized more than 40 shows for different institutions.
The Mysore fashion week , season 01, will put Mysore on the Indian fashion map. Top design labels from across India – Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkatta, and Bangalore, will be showcasing their designs on the ramp. Jayanthi Ballal herself will be displaying her designs. Local talent too, will also get an opportunity to rub shoulders with the best in the industry and present their wares to a fashion hungry public and the celebrities and fashionistas that are expected to throng the three day show.
Jayanthi speaking to Newskarnataka earlier in the week (also read) had said that the aim of the Mysore Fashion week is provide a platform to designers from Mysore to participate alongside designers of national fame to help them learn and grow.
