The government has suspended G.T. Dinesh Kumar, former Commissioner of Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA), effective August 31. This suspension follows a report by a Technical Committee that highlighted numerous omissions and irregularities during his tenure.
The suspension order lists several issues, including Dinesh Kumar’s failure to provide clear opinions on matters raised in MUDA meetings, violation of government directives, illegal approval of design maps, unlawful land acquisitions, and the illegal distribution of plots in a 50:50 ratio.
The Technical Committee, chaired by T.V. Murali, submitted its findings to the government in November 2023, recommending action against Dinesh Kumar. The suspension is a response to allegations of a land allotment scam during his tenure as MUDA Commissioner. Complaints were filed with the Lokayukta and police by MLA T.S. Srivatsa and others, demanding action against both Dinesh Kumar and DB Natesh.
Interestingly, just two days before the suspension order, Dinesh Kumar had been transferred to the post of Chancellor of Haveri University. However, no action has been taken against Natesh so far. This suspension underscores the government’s efforts to address alleged irregularities and ensure accountability in public office.
