Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. K. V. Rajendra has instructed the Excise Department officials to register a case and take strict action if unauthorised sale of liquor is found in the District.

Presiding over a meeting of officials of Excise Department and Commercial Taxes Department held at the DC’s office here, he said that legal action should be taken immediately if cases of hooliganism are found in H. D. Kote and Saragur Hilly areas. “The election Code of Conduct is in place and therefore any attempt to lure people into liquor shops, bars and restaurants, should be observed and timely action should be taken. The owners of bars and restaurants should be informed about this,” he said.

“The Excise Department should inspect the check posts. It should also take necessary action to ensure liquor remains banned on 48-hour dry days before polling,” he said.
