The event highlighted the importance of improved air connectivity for Mysuru, a city known for its cultural heritage and growing economic potential.
Enhanced connectivity and convenience
Speaking on the occasion, Mysuru Airport Director P V Usha Kumari stated that the new daily service is expected to significantly improve connectivity between Mysuru and Hyderabad, one of India’s प्रमुख IT and pharmaceutical hubs.
She noted that the direct link would help reduce travel time and offer greater flexibility for both business and leisure travellers. The afternoon schedule is designed to suit passengers looking for convenient travel options without early morning or late-night departures.
Boost to tourism and trade
The new route is anticipated to give a boost to tourism and trade between the two cities. Mysuru, known for its palaces, heritage sites, and cultural festivals, attracts visitors from across the country, while Hyderabad serves as a major economic and technological centre.
Improved connectivity is expected to encourage more tourists, business travellers, and investors to explore opportunities in both regions, contributing to economic growth.
Existing services see strong demand
Currently, flights operated by IndiGo between Mysuru and cities like Chennai and Hyderabad are witnessing 100 per cent occupancy, indicating strong demand for air travel from the region.
The Chennai service arrives in Mysuru at 6:50 pm and departs at 7:10 pm, while the existing Hyderabad flight arrives at 3:55 pm and departs at 4:15 pm. The addition of the new daily service is expected to further accommodate the growing passenger demand.
Strengthening Mysuru’s role as a regional hub
With the introduction of this new route, Mysuru Airport continues to strengthen its position as a key gateway in southern India. The expansion aligns with broader efforts to improve regional air connectivity and support economic and cultural integration.
Officials believe that such initiatives will play a crucial role in enhancing accessibility, promoting tourism, and facilitating business activities in and around Mysuru.
Conclusion
The launch of the daily Mysuru-Hyderabad flight marks a positive development in regional aviation, offering improved travel options and supporting growth in tourism and trade. With rising demand and expanded connectivity, Mysuru Airport is poised to play an increasingly important role in the region’s development.
