Mysuru: The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has collected ₹210 crore in property tax so far during the 2026–27 financial year, according to District Minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah. The civic body has set an annual collection target of ₹286.72 crore, and the latest figures indicate progress towards achieving the goal.
Yathindra shared the details while addressing the Karnataka Rajyotsava celebrations at Oval Grounds in Mysuru on Sunday, November 1. He highlighted the corporation’s efforts to improve revenue collection and simplify civic services for property owners.
MCC targets ₹286.72 crore in property tax
The corporation aims to collect ₹286.72 crore in property tax during the current financial year. The ₹210-crore collection reported so far represents a substantial portion of the annual target.
Property tax remains an important source of revenue for the civic body, supporting the delivery and maintenance of essential urban services and infrastructure.
The collection figures also reflect the importance of improving tax administration and making payment procedures more accessible to residents.
Special e-khata drive receives good response
Yathindra also highlighted the response to the MCC’s special Prajaseva e-khata campaign, which was conducted by charging a nominal fee of ₹175.
During the campaign, more than 590 property owners received their e-khata documents within 72 hours of submitting their applications, he said.
The corporation has issued around 78,000 A and B khatas so far, according to the minister. The initiative is aimed at helping property owners obtain the necessary documentation through a simplified process.
The e-khata campaign is part of the civic body’s efforts to improve property-related services and reduce delays in issuing official records.
MCC plans to simplify civic services
Yathindra said the corporation would continue working towards making its services more convenient and accessible to residents.
He also referred to the MCC’s agreement with the Department of Posts to deliver birth and death certificates to residents through postal services. The initiative is intended to reduce the need for people to visit corporation offices to collect essential documents.
The corporation has been taking steps to improve service delivery through digital initiatives and simplified administrative procedures.
Village experience programme launched
During the Rajyotsava programme, Yathindra also launched the Gramanubhava or Village Experience initiative of the Department of School Education and Literacy.
The programme aims to familiarise urban students with rural life, agricultural practices and the importance of their connection with the soil.
It is intended to provide students with an understanding of village communities and the role of agriculture in everyday life.
The minister’s announcements covered civic administration, property documentation and educational initiatives, alongside the Rajyotsava celebrations in Mysuru.
