Mysuru: This is truly unique. Mysuru Municipal Corporation, which has bagged laurels for its cleanliness efforts has thought of yet another creative way to tell people about importance of cleanliness and hygiene and about waste segregation at the source.

This time the Corporation has come up with caller tune on the same lines.

A total of 345 officials and members associated with the Corporation, including 65 corporators and 5 nominated members will have to make this ‘cleanliness theme’ as their caller tune.

All the 345 sim cards provided by the Corporation will have the 30-sec caller tune, speaking about cleanliness and hygiene and waste segregation.

The caller tune is a conversation between a child, mother and domestic maid, where they talk about segregation of dry and wet waste.

Mysuru has bagged first place in cleanliness in India.

The second year of City Ranking Survey was over in January and the results were expected to be out by January 25, which has not been announced yet.

It  is said that this year the competition has just got tougher with cities like Surat, New Delhi and Chandigarh trying very hand to take away the coveted position.

It is said that Corporation is making all possible efforts to retain the position despite knowing all the loopholes in the waste disposal system and the fact that most of the citizens are not segregating waste at the source.

The caller tune is one such bids to disseminate lessons of hygiene.
